Meeting Minutes October 8th, 2015

Ionia County Model Club

10/8/2015

Present at the meeting were Roger, Darrell, Steve, John, Paul, Ed, Chuck, Mike, Pat and Dave.

Paul read the minutes from the previous meeting which were approved.

Dave reviewed the budget in light of the expenses from last year.  He pointed out to us that the

expenses of the past year exceeded the budget.  He also showed us that the income to the club from

different activities and donations was greater than last year.  It was noted that a good number of the

present members still have not paid their dues for this coming year.  Come on guys, this is how we keep

the club functioning.

There was some discussion about the pros and cons of hosting special events like IMAC.  Some of the

members pointed out that since it is hard to get volunteers from our club to help out during these times

it might be better to not increase the scheduling of these special events.  Dave, however, pointed out to

us that these events bring in a healthy income which helps to defray the cost of operating the club.  For

instance, the last four events brought in over a $1,000.

As to the elections, Mike Murphey was nominated and approved unanimously to be one of the club

directors next year.  Brian See was not present but will remain as a director for the next three years and

will replace Darrell Davis when he moves away.

Remember we have some tables reserved at the KRAM swap meet next Sunday, October 25.

I hear there was a good turnout for the potluck dinner at the club.  Speaking about eating out you need

to mark on your calendar December 2 which is when we have our Christmas Club Dinner scheduled at

the Lamp Light Grill in Ionia.  For better service we are recommending six special meals which cost only

$10.99.  These include the salad bar and fresh bread.

A special thanks to Dave who chaired the meeting even when he was not feeling well.  Also thanks to

Roger and John who helped Dave audit the books.  As treasurer I could not be there.

Well guys, colder days are on their way which will limit the amount we fly so I hope you all have a model

or two you are building this winter.  I have several projects I hope to finish.  The weather should not

keep us from the Frozen Fingers Fly In for January  1, 2016 at our club.

Meeting Minutes September 10th, 2015

Club Meeting  9/10/15
Present at the meetings were Chuck, John, Ed, Roger, Paul and Dave.  Bruce was visiting and has interest in joining our club.
The treasurer’s report indicates there is $1,977.25 in the checking account.  Cash on hand is $105.00.
There are 73 paid members in the club.  If you are a member and have not paid up for the coming year we would appreciate you doing so.  There seems to be a fall out on those members who are interested in RC cars and trucks so our membership may drop some next year.
We discussed the upcoming elections to be held in October.  No nominations were presented that changed our present board leadership.  Brian See is up for re-election as one of the directors.  Darrell Davis is another director who will be moving so this may affect his position and involvement.  The board members at present are:
         President : Dave Walter
         Vice President : Roger Erridge
         Secretary Treasurer : Paul Gess
Directors : John Schneider, Darrell Davis and Brian See.
         Communications Officer : Chuck Rencurrel
(Later)  The Swap Meet on the 13th was one of the best our club has held in regards to vendors but those interested in buying were few.  This response will need to be reviewed but some who did come came from as far as Kalamazoo and even showed interest in our club.  Dave was not able to be there some of the time because of their son’s health needs but Roger was on board to take his place.  Thanks so much, Roger.
Remember guys that Thursday evening we have our Fun Fly and a great time to get personally acquainted with other members of our club.  I have found it a great time to learn from others.  It won’t be long before it is too cold to fly so take advantage of this time. We also discussed a 50-50 raffle and would appreciate your input.
Next weekend is a BIG ONE!  The Regional IMAC Competition will be slicing the skies again.  Friday the 13th will be practice.  ( For those of you how are superstitious you need to be careful because there may be some pieces to pick up.)  The following two days are dedicated completely to winning the trophy.
TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH!  One of the main reasons you and I are part of the club is to benefit from the facility itself.  Without question we have one of the nicest places around to fly our planes.  It is not just a small strip surrounded by tall weeds,  thanks to Dave and Alice.  What I see is a weak link in our club is the lack of help received from the 73 or more members especially when we hold special events.  I trust that we are in the club for not just what we can get but what we can give.  Think about it!
Paul  Gess – Secretary Treasure.

Meeting Minutes December 11, 2014

IONIA COUNTY MODEL CLUB MEETING
December 11, 2014

Meeting was called to order at 7:32 PM.
Present at the meeting were 8 members.
Minutes of the November 12 meeting were read and approved.
Treasure report:  The bank account shows $2,299.28 in the black.
New business:
Dave Walter expressed his appreciation for all who showed up to move the barn to its new location.  Many hands made light work and a gratifying time.  We do have a beautiful flying field with many options and we need to keep it looking that way.  Some donations have come in for the building project but more is needed.  Over $5,000.00 has been spent on this project up to this point.  More needs to be done to close in the south wall.  Come out tomorrow morning (Sat. 13) if you can for a couple of hours of working together.  Let’s not take advantage of Dave’s generosity.

The dinner at Lamplight Grill was well attended.  It was a great way to finish a good year.
Don’t forget the Frozen Finger Fly-in for January 1, 2015.  What a great way to start off the New Year!  Remember there will be plenty of food and warmer temperatures inside.  The fun starts around noon.  In case of snow, it will be plowed ahead of time.
New Activity:
Charles and Mike gave us an informative review about electric airplanes.  Those of us who are glow engine fanatics learned much.  Some are reluctant to make the change because they like the smell of the exhaust or don’t mind all the tinkering to get a glow engine started.  We will all see the advantage of electric motors when we celebrate the Frozen Finger Fly-in.  Thanks, guys, for sharing your expertise with us.  Our club is here to give anyone the thrill of flying, no matter how they power their planes.
Observations:
Don’t forget to pay your dues.  They keep our club running.
Kalamazoo County Expo Center Swap Meet is January 24, 2015.  If you need some space on the tables for this, please contact Dave Walter.
Cheasaning Club RC Swap Meet is scheduled for February 8, 2015 at New Lothrop Elementary School, 9387 Genesee St., New Lothrop MI 48460.  Contact Dave Walter if you are interested in going with him.
